Translation

Sometimes he's totally there, and you think you know everything about him. Then there's this part of him that's... Nobody's that innocent when they're that arrested. What were you trying to do, Dad, fly? I've done pretty well without a father this long. I don't know why I thought I needed one now. I'm a scientist. I find curiosity to be an admirable trait. If I had the answers to half the "whys" in this town, I'd have a bestseller on my hands. Where do you think you are, Walton Mountain? You were in love with that disgusting mutant, weren't you? You may be hearing, but you're not listening. Pop quiz, hotshot. You're different than the rest of us. Your moral choices are only going to become more complicated in the years ahead. To the boy next door who became so much more. I thought I was getting used to seeing pretty weird things around here. I'm looking for a little insight into the female psyche. I have to live with my mistakes. Don't let them become yours. Yeah, it's not a gift certificate. Coincidence is an explanation used by fools and liars. Midwest tel. Even heroes have the right to dream. Humanity isn't all about biology.

Hidden Message

I'm flying to Wash DC is revealed when the key is arranged in ascending numerical order.

Interpretation

Sometimes he's totally there, and you think you know everything about him. Then there's this part of him that's...

Pete said this to Lana about Clark in "Cool."

Nobody's that innocent when they're that arrested.

I'm pretty sure someone said this about Lana in "Magnetic," but I can't bring myself to watch that episode again to make sure.

What were you trying to do, Dad, fly?

Clark said this to Jonathan when he fell off the roof in Season Three's "Legacy."

I've done pretty well without a father this long. I don't know why I thought I needed one now.

Lana, referring to Mr. Small's rejection of her, said this to Clark in "Lineage."  Because, after all, everyone abandons Lana.

I'm a scientist. I find curiosity to be an admirable trait.

Dr. Swann said this to Lionel in "Legacy."

If I had the answers to half the "whys" in this town, I'd have a bestseller on my hands.

Sheriff Cheshire (Adams) said this to Lana in "Crisis."

Where do you think you are, Walton Mountain?

Lionel said this to Lucas in "Prodigal."

You were in love with that disgusting mutant, weren't you?

Van McNulty said this to Lana in "Extinction."

You may be hearing, but you're not listening.

Pop quiz, hotshot.

This is a line from the movie Speed, starring Keanu Reeves.  Interestingly, it's the movie Bart Allen suggested he and Clark go see at Mann's Chinese Theater in "Run."  In "Transference," Lex aimed a gun at Clark and demanded that he answer a question to make sure Lionel was no longer in Clark's body.  Clark's initial response?  "What is this, a pop quiz?"  However, this could also be a reference to the episode "Resurrection."  There were several hostages taken in both Speed and "Resurrection," and, in both, the criminal strapped a bomb to himself.  In "Resurrection," however, nobody's head was severed.  J

You're different than the rest of us.

Jordan said this to Clark in "Hereafter" when he saw a vision of Superman's cape fluttering through space.

Your moral choices are only going to become more complicated in the years ahead.

Jonathan said something similar to this in "Velocity."  He said to Clark, "Son, you're going to have to make choices in your life, moral choices that she and I will never have to make.  But we both know that when that time comes, you'll do what you think is best.  What's right.  That's what's important."

To the boy next door who became so much more.

This is how Lana signed Clark's yearbook (*gag*).

I thought I was getting used to seeing pretty weird things around here.

Clark said this to Lana in "Crisis."

I'm looking for a little insight into the female psyche.

Clark said this to Lex when asked why he was reading Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus in "Crush."

I have to live with my mistakes. Don't let them become yours.

Jonathan said this to Clark in "Legacy."

Yeah, it's not a gift certificate.

Clark was trying to figure out what to give Lana for a birthday present in "Craving," and he said this to Chloe when she asked for a hint as to what this present would be.

Coincidence is an explanation used by fools and liars.

Lionel said this to Lex in "Legacy."

Midwest tel.

This is a Wisconsin-based Internet access company.  Perhaps this is a reference to the KansCom vans in Season 3?

Even heroes have the right to dream.

A line from Five for Fighting's song, "Superman."  This song was played in "Stray" as the Kents said goodbye to Ryan (until Season 2's "Ryan").

Humanity isn't all about biology.

Dr. Swann said this to Clark in "Legacy."
