Translation

Hooray!  We're back to the old, familiar three-line format!  Ah, memories.  I first looked at this thing and panicked, thinking, "Wow, I'm never going to be able to decode THAT mess."  But the very first thing that struck me was a word in the very last sentence-- 221614042307101506'22.  My keen codebreaker's instincts told me that could only be one word: Something's.  So, I went through the Prophecy and replaced all of the appropriate numbers with their matching letters, and once I finished that, the rest just fell into place.  Here's the full key:

So decoded, the Prophecy reads...

Now here I go again
I see the crystal visions
I keep my visions to myself.

The best thing for being sad
Is to learn something.
That's the only thing that never fails.

When you've got powers like us,
There's always going to be people
Digging deep to find our secrets.

Their stony hearts hide the visitor.

Some may find it; none shall return.

A field of beautiful flowers
Laid barren by an emptiness
That can never be filled.

Feels like my insides are on fire
And I'm looking through
The eyes of someone else.

Philosophy failed.
Religion failed.
Now it's time for medical science to try.

The tide of blood in me
Hath proudly flow'd in vanity till now:
Now doth it turn and ebb back to the sea.

Monitor the message.
Vengeance may be understood
By peering between your fingers.

Know, thou noble youth,
The serpent that did sting thy father's life
Now wears his crown.

If you look long and hard enough
Into the deep...
Something's going to start looking back.

Interpretation

Now here I go again
I see the crystal visions
I keep my visions to myself.

Rich reveals these are lyrics from The Corrs' "Dreams."  It also sounds a lot like Ezra writing of himself; he experienced strange visions (these Prophecies), but kept them to himself by writing them down in his journal.

The best thing for being sad
Is to learn something.
That's the only thing that never fails.

Visitor Magneto points out this is an excerpt from T.H. White's The Once and Future King.  The relevant passage reads as follows:

"The best thing for being sad," replied Merlin, beginning to puff and blow, "is to learn something.  That’s the only thing that never fails.  You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds.  There is only one thing for it then—to learn.  Learn why the world wags and what wags it.  That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting.  Learning is the only thing for you.  Look what a lot of things there are to learn."

Nick Yang said these words in one of "The Veangeance Chronicles."

Their stony hearts hide the visitor.

Some may find it; none shall return.

Not sure about the first line.  Lana Lang #1 informs us that the second line translates to "The white city is a place of profound sleep," which sounds a bit like the "profound sleep" mentioned in Prophecy 22.  Spanish is also the native language of recurring character (well, recurring in "The Veangeance Chronicles") Andrea.

A field of beautiful flowers
Laid barren by an emptiness
That can never be filled.

Lillian Luthor spoke these words to Lex when he flatlined in "Void."  She was referring to Lex's destructive future, which we glimpsed in "Hourglass" and "Scare."  In these episodes, we saw a vision of Lex Luthor standing in a field of beautiful flowers.  When he stretched out his black-gloved hand to touch one, the entire field withered and died.  As we all know, Lex's black heart is filled with an emptiness-- an emptiness of compassion and anything good-- that can never be filled.

Feels like my insides are on fire
And I'm looking through
The eyes of someone else.

Rich points out these are lyrics from SR-71's "Tomorrow," and Chiriru reminds us that song was played in the episode "Insurgence."  Like the "Dreams" reference above, it sounds like another reference to Ezra.  In the articles Christopher James Beppo wrote about Ezra, it is revealed that Ezra felt as if he was being pierced by some sort of fire and looking through someone else's eyes every time he had one of his visions.

This is dialogue from the 1990 movie Flatliners, starring Kiefer Sutherland and Julia Roberts.  These words were spoken by Kiefer's character, Nelson Wright.  The egotistical side of me wondered if this was a mini shout-out to me... After all, if you've taken a look at this page and this page of my site, you'll see that I sort of met Kiefer at a Lifehouse concert.  I then thought perhaps since the movie is about medical students intentionally killing themselves and then bringing themselves back to life, it was a throwback to how Clark flatlined and then came back to life in "Mortal."  But the amazing MadCoder peeked at the official description for the upcoming episode, and it all makes sense:

Still distraught over her break-up with Clark (Tom Welling), Lana (Kristin Kreuk) experiments with a dangerous serum that allows her to flat-line and see her deceased parents again.  A worried Clark rushes to save Lana from hurting herself, but ends up being injected with the kryptonite-laced serum by a rogue doctor (Patrick Currie).  When Clark flat-lines, he is able to talk to his father, recently deceased Jonathan (John Schneider), who warns him that Lionel (John Glover) knows his secret.  Meanwhile, Lionel continues to get closer to Martha.

Best part of this description?  BREAK-UP.  Yay!  Sorry, Clana fans.

The tide of blood in me

This is from Part 2 of King Henry IV.  Lana Lang #1 and JP Newland point out that this dialogue is about Henry V taking on the mantle of kingship.  Is this a reference to Clark stepping up to fill the shoes of his departed father?

The ghost of Hamlet's father spoke these words to Hamlet in Shakespeare's play of the same name.  The relevant passage reads:

'Tis given out that, sleeping in my orchard,
A serpent stung me; so the whole ear of Denmark
Is by a forged process of my death
Rankly abused: but know, thou noble youth,
The serpent that did sting thy father's life
Now wears his crown.

In Smallville, the noble Clark's father, Jonathan, died after a confrontation with Lionel... Possibly because the photograph Lionel handed to Jonathan was contaminated with some sort of vile poison... And it appears as if Lionel is about to snag Jonathan's wife Martha, who could be metaphorically referred to as Jonathan's crown.  Thanks to JP Newland.

KSite's Jason Bourne reveals a Nietzsche quote that sounds awfully similar to this: "When you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you."
