Smallville: On TV and online

Everyone knows the CW's Smallville is one of the best shows on television. Smallville explores the teen years of Clark Kent, the man who will one day become Superman. This awesome show is about to end its sixth season, and fans love it. Any true Smallville fan knows there's more to the Smallville universe than just the TV show, though. During the first four seasons of Smallville, a new edition of The Smallville Ledger appeared after every new episode, delivering a cover story with very latest news. The Torch, Smallville High's student-run newspaper, also released new issues in conjunction with new episodes. The Ledger and the Torch used to have multiple pages in each issue, and they were chock full of fun stuff for readers. When the second meteor shower struck Smallville in Season 4's "Commencement," however, the Ledger's headquarters were destroyed, so this newspaper is shut down until further notice.  At the same time, Chloe graduated from Smallville High in "Commencement" and no longer works at The Torch-- she's moved on to greener pastures at the Daily Planet.  Though the Ledger and the Torch no longer provide fans with new information, their archives are still available online, and it is through the Ledger that fans were first introduced to the Ezra Small Prophecies.

What are the Ezra Small Prophecies?

Ezra Small, founder of Smallville, Kansas, recorded his prophetic visions in a private diary. The man responsible for sifting through Ezra's mysterious writings is the shy, unassuming Christopher James Beppo, writer for the Ledger and contributor to Smallville: The Official Magazine. Known affectionately to fellow Ezra Small enthusiasts as CJB or simply Beppo, this scholar makes entries from Ezra's diaries available to the public through several channels.  Beppo's first article about Ezra Small appeared in the Ledger, and subsequent Ledger articles further fleshed out the story of Smallville's own seer.  One issue of the Smallville comic contained another Ezra Small article.  Later, The Ezra Small House and Museum became host to more new Prophecies as well as the online archive of Ezra articles.  CJB then published more Ezra Small information in, oddly enough, snowflakes.  Beppo has also published many articles about Ezra and his Prophecies in issues of Smallville: The Official Magazine.  New Prophecies also appeared at Season 5's Project Mercury 2.0 blog.

The articles Beppo writes often contain exact excerpts from the diaries of Ezra Small.  As a result, many passages in these articles are cryptic and, more often than not, written in code.  It's up to dedicated fans to decipher the messages and attempt to discern their meanings.  These Prophecies often give a glimpse into the future, but quotes from past episodes appear as well.

Shirkie's Ezra Small Prophecies Site

CJB has released an incredible volume of Ezra Small's writings to the public.  Though I am merely a fan of Smallville and am not affiliated with the show or the CW in any way, I created this site to be the unofficial repository of all things Ezra Small.  I have dutifully recorded all of Ezra's Prophecies in chronological order and provide interpretations for each as well as translations, translation keys, and (if applicable) hidden messages for the encrypted entries.  SESPS is the best spot on the web for anything related to Ezra and his Prophecies.

Please visit the Connect page to get in touch with me and/or other visitors to SESPS, and if you'd like to submit any information SESPS is missing, please visit the Submit Info page.  Also, for more information about Ezra and his Prophecies, visit the sites I've mentioned on this page and check out the Links page for a listing of other informative Ezra and Smallville sites.
